This is the vehicle that will carry Jeff and I for over 6000kms of driving… It's glorious! This baby is a 1996 Toyota Carina with only 206,000kms. Sure the A/C doesn't work, but who needs air conditioning in 40 degree weather while driving through the Sahara. No sir, we prefer the windows down and the breeze running through our hair and the sand in our teeth and in our eyes and in our noses… Oh well. Did I mention it's a right hand drive vehicle with a manual transmission. Hope the previous owner(s) were kind to this mean machine.
What we're missing is a name – please help us to name this stunning vehicle and post your suggestions below. Please fight the temptation to use the "crash" as part of the name.
Here's what this stunner looks like without the glint from the sun – what do you think abou the "Sahara Sandmaster"?

I'll go first – the blue belle?
I think you should name it "The Little Yoda That Could"!!!! May the force be with you Both!!
Oh yeah, fabuouls stuff there you!
Love it!
FORD. found off road dead
good luck buddy, you're gonna need it!
I say the "The Beast"
RACER X (Character from, Speed Racer); Racer X is a heroic, mysterious, selfless, and sympathetic … "It doesn't matter if racing never changes. What matters is if we let racing change us. Every one of us has to find a reason to do this. You don't climb into a T-180 to be a driver. You do it because you're driven."
Just an homage to a Toyota classic….I think the Toyota Sand Cruiser is suitable! Good luck Ilya, Jeff. We'll be following your progress closely!
A blue car in the Sahara….how about, "The Oasis of the Hammer" or TOOTH
or Steeltown Sandmaster
But if you end up going with the Star Wars theme…its more of a "Tusken Raider" or the vehicle of the Jawa's, the Sandcrawler (not very flattering…but when you add "Steeltown" to it…but then again you have that with "Toyota" by Matt Schiff.
Don’t know where the Star Trek consideration come from… but I love the other naming ideas. I think we’ll have to wait until we set eyes on this beast and the name comes to mind.
"The Beast from the East!!"
Bon Voyage!
I say the icarina! (pronounced with a mexican accent). Have fun and be safe!
I spent a week in Kenya this summer being driven around on safari in a Toyota van. It was incredible, seemingly could drive through anything! We spent a few harrowing moments canted at a 45' angle into a muddy ditch but didn't roll. If any vehicle can go the distance there it's a Toyota! Good luck!
How about…"Amazing Grace"
